Bhikkhu Dhammagavesi

Ven.Bhikkhu Dhammagavesi

Bhikkhu Dhammagavesi Thero is an Indian Citizen who started his spiritual journey in 2013 at Wat Pah Nana Chat in Thailand where he stayed for 1 ½ yrs. He learned a lot about Buddhist teachings but found that there is something lacking in the meditation which didn’t allow any further  progress. His initial training in meditation was through 10 Vipassana courses in Mumbai, India.

In 2016 he discovered Bhante Vimalaramsi recovered an approach to the Buddha Dhamma and meditation which is easy to understand and immediately effective. He left Thailand to do join a Dhammasukha retreat in Bali, Indonesia in 2016 with Bhante Vimalaramsi. He continued developing his practice by ordaining under him at that time. As a Novice monk. After the retreat, he was advised to continue to practice with Ven. Khanti Khema in Sri Lanka. Then, in 2017, he received his higher ordination in Penang, while Bhante Vimalaramsi was on a Malaysian tour that year.  He then arranged to remain in Sri Lanka for a further period of time until a permanent location could be developed for TWIM practice in India.

As Co-Director for the Asian project for Dhamma Sukha India, he took part in the organizing and completing Samatha-Vipassana Trust in Mumbai, India. Venerable greatly helps and advises us to organize retreats and tours throughout Asia and India for Bhante Vimalaramsi and Ven. Sister Khema. He teaches online and coaches students regularly. Bhante will beginning his personal teaching at retreats in 2022. His intention is to return to India, when the time comes to encourage and train future monastics, students, and teachers in TWIM practice.
